Helping Hands is a two-year project, between Junta de Freguesia de Cascais e Estoril, in Portugal, and Kuusankoski Hiking Club, in Finland.

With this project we will create a link between southern and northern Europe, connecting senior volunteers and local communities in Portugal and in Finland. Twelve senior volunteers (6 from each country) will have the amazing opportunity to engage in a 3-week transnational volunteering program, developing several social care activities to benefit local communities and especially elderly people.

Volunteers will meet new people and a new culture, broadening their social and cultural horizons, and experience a rich source of inspiration and an excellent way to help other people and the community. This experience will allow them to discover new interests, new intercultural learning outcomes, personal and social development, reshape perspectives and even their life goals in several ways, promoting active ageing and social inclusion, and contributing to the well being and providing better quality of life.

The project will also benefit the partner organizations with their knowledge and valuable help in the surrounding community and to develop long lasting cooperation between partners and their volunteers.
